Getting to Know the Quran

GETTING TO KNOW THE QURAN

The Quran, the final word of Allah. A revelation from the heavens, for all mankind, till the end of time.

Yet how much is this book a part of our children’s lives? Do they ponder over its verses and marvel at its miracles? Do they understand the uniqueness of the Quran, that it shows us life according to the Creator? Do they know how to interact with the Quran, the concept of Zikr and Fikr? Are they aware of the scientific miracles of the Quran, of the deep secrets that lie within it?

MPF will be holding a half-day workshop aimed at teenagers and hopes to bring the Quran into their lives as more than just a book recited at religious classes; that the Quran is without doubt, the key to our guidance.

The workshop will be conducted by Brother Hasrizal bin Abdul Jamil.

A graduate in Sharia and Islamic Studies from Mut’ah University, Jordan, he has vast experience with youth having spent four years in Ireland where he held a number of positions. Among them, a teacher in Fiqh at Belfast Islamic School, Imam of the Belfast Islamic Centre, where his duties included leading the daily prayers, delivering Friday Khutbahs and teaching Hadith. He also held the position of Principal and Curriculum Advisor of the Belfast Islamic School.

Back in Malysia, Brother Hasrizal is pursuing his Masters in History and Civilisation at the International Islamic University. He is currently the Muslim Counsellor at the National Heart Institute (IJN) besides being kept busy by various speaking engagements.

Brother Hasrizal is 32 years old and is married with three children.

HOW DOES ISLAM BENEFIT ME?

Ever had your child ask, why did Allah create us? Why does He want me to be a good Muslim?

Simple, yet important questions in any child’s life. They are often told that being good Muslims promises them untold rewards in the Hereafter, but it is life here and now that matters very much to these youngsters. What are the benefits now, in this world?

MPF is honoured once again to have Brother Yahya Adel Ibrahim conduct two workshops in which he seeks to explain not only why we should live our lives as good Muslims but the immediate benefits it brings. YOU ARE THE BEST UMMAH
With globalisation being a catchword these days, and a world growing increasingly intolerant, the challenges facing our youth cannot be underestimated. The Muslim Ummah seems to be under siege, and too often, Islam is made the scapegoat as we find ourselves backed into a corner.

Maintaining an Islamic Identity
The fine act of balancing assimilation into society and maintaining an Islamic identity is a battle many will encounter. Isolation is never the answer, yet the temptations that lurk out there are very real. How can our youth accept the honour and privilege that Allah has bestowed upon us with pride and conviction? How can they live their lives in today’s society without compromising their Islamic identity?

Examples from Prophet Muhammad
The purpose of this camp is to enrich and strengthen the hearts and minds of our youth, through education, spiritual training, reflections and teamwork. Insha Allah, the camp hopes to bring our youth closer to Allah and increase their knowledge in matters of Islamic worship and behaviour, through the beautiful teachings and manners of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

How Best to Deal with Challenges
Participants will be taught how best to deal with the challenges they face and activities include study of Islamic etiquette, mind games and outdoor sports.

Sharing the Same Hopes with Others
Life long friends are made at a camp, as it brings together people sharing the same hopes, dreams and fears. Lives have been changed here and it is an experience you do not want to miss.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To instill in our youth the sense of pride in being Muslims.
  2. To comprehend that applying Islamic principles & values leads towards excellence in this world & the hereafter.
  3. To emulate & practice the ways of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in our daily lives.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Youth aged 15 – 19 years

“You are the best of people ever raised for mankind…….” – Surah Ali Imran:110

HAMAS : ENGAGE OR ISOLATE ?
By
DR. AZZAM TAMIMI

Date : SUNDAY, 19th March 2006
Time : 10.30 am
Venue : REHAL TERRACE, ISLAMIC ARTS MUSEUM
JALAN LEMBAH PERDANA, KL.
Direction : Enter through MASJID NEGARA Road.

The day HAMAS won the Palestinian democratic elections, the world’s leading democracies failed the acid test of democracy. Rather than recognise the legitimacy of HAMAS as a freely elected representative of the Palestinian people, the US and EU threatened the Palestinian people with collective punishment for exercising their inalienable right.

Come spend your morning with our esteemed guest, Dr. Azzam Tamimi, as he exposes the hypocrisy of the “democratic west” and unravels the web of misconceptions and fallacies about HAMAS.

Born in Hebron, Palestine, Dr. Azzam obtained his PhD. in Political Thought from The University of Westminster in 1998. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the University of Nagoya, Japan.

His in-depth knowledge of the socio-political Middle Eastern affairs is well known and his views are highly sought. His works are widely studied and used as reference materials in tertiary and research institutions around the world. Charismatic and eloquent, his passion almost always leaves his listeners completely enthralled. Having personally experienced the plight of the Palestinians, his commitment to this cause is unquestionable, often forthrightly calling for the dismantling of Zionism just as Apartheid was.
